when I think of the grand design
we have made on Earth like a map
creating our world
through different civilisations
similar shapes arise across the globe
throughout history as mankind progresses
these shapes change
to the glass and concrete
the skyline of a city
mark our place in time
building the likes of which
can be seen from space
on an average day
the sky changes
different clouds move
the sun peaks through
the garden is green
still wet from the rain
I sit at my computer
listening to music
and write my feeling down
content in my well being
Lost horizons
end of days
when all things are depleted
and nothing remains
all hope is gone
the light diminished
and darkness prevails
civilisations breath
as precious as a fallen star
can we hold onto what is lost
passages of the skies
thunder clouds
as darkness descends
surrounding me
enveloping my heart
turning the world inside out
the sound is deafening
like a war zone of nature
beating wind against the sky
turning shapes into nightmares
may all this be passing
as we dream of a new world
take shelter from the gathering storm
we wait for it to pass
but we know in our hearts
fear prevails
as our surroundings darken
a path is found within
to lead us away to safety
what remains
cannot be unbroken
like a child
fragile to begin with
then as strength returns
so shall we find in ourselves
the depth of courage
against disparity
and awaken a truth
a burden of which we carry
let the rain fall on me
as I see my future
in a distant land
of neon lights
and concrete dreams
developing each moment
the fathomless beginning
a knowing purpose
transcendent being
Is the moon watching me
as the stars pass by
in the night sky
can we still see them
during the day
the present blue
then covered by clouds
from the unknowing void
laid out before us
to feel trapped
and abandoned
left with only ones thoughts
to be guided in darkness
the light shining through
a pathway to enlightenment
from the dawn comes humanity
the new way is forged
surrounded by friends and family
this pathway is ours to discover
shaping the land into green
across the valley and upstream
where forests are cleared
a range of fields divides
replaced by mountain sides
through hillside pathways
across dual carriageways
the view of colours change
as civilisation has no end
